DARKEINU -  דַּרְכֵּנוּ

One Story, Many Journeys

A Century of Progressive Jewish Partnership

London, 25–28 June 2026

Pre-event programme 19-25 June

The European Union for Progressive Judaism and the Movement for Progressive Judaism (UK) invite you to celebrate with us the 100th anniversary of the World Union for Progressive Judaism — a century of connection, courage, and creativity.

About  Darkeinu

Darkeinu means “our path” — a reminder that the journey of Progressive Judaism is not a solitary one. It is a path we shape together: communities supporting one another, voices learning from each other, and generations passing on a shared commitment to justice, compassion, and Jewish renewal.

It was along such a shared path that, in 1926, the World Union for Progressive Judaism was founded in London under the dynamic leadership of Lily Montagu, its honorary secretary, and Claude Montefiore, its first president. From the outset, the World Union sought to nurture and strengthen Progressive Jewish life wherever communities wished to renew or establish a contemporary expression of Judaism and its traditions.

The European Union for Progressive Judaism and the Movement for Progressive Judaism (UK) now invite you back to London to celebrate this centenary milestone — a hundred years of connection, courage, and creativity.

Together, we will reflect on the many journeys that have shaped our shared story: communities rebuilt, ideas reimagined, and friendships across borders deepened. And we will look forward with hope and partnership, continuing to build a just, compassionate, and dynamic Judaism — responsive to the needs of our time and alive with possibility for the generations to come.
